From Planes To Lawn Bowls

From talking planes, flights and airlines with Sandy Howard to playing Lawn Bowls with the Northern Beaches Rotaractors, it has been an exciting week.

As Sandy spoke while we listened intently I couldn’t help but notice the large number of people stopping outside the New Civic Café on Tuesday morning wondering what was going on. This was a great opportunity to promote our club and I hope for all future meetings we have banners up outside the café so people from the community can see who we are.

On Sunday, Warren M, Tom & Pam B, Kos & Joanne P, Chris W and myself attended the Northern Beaches Rotaract Barefoot Bowls Day at Narrabeen RSL. It was nice to meet other Rotarians from Clubs such as Manly, Dee Why and St Ives and the turnout was impressive. The Rotaractors put on a delicious sausage sizzle and offered great hospitality.

The games were close and the competition a little more serious than I expected (as you can see by the looks on their faces), yet non the less I would say fun was had by all.

The raffles at the end of the day had an interesting twist as my tickets were called out a large number of times. I must admit I was definitely not going to so no to the cupcakes, cookies and brownies I won as they were baked by Britany (President of the Rotaractors) who is a pastry chef so I knew I was in for a treat!

So to our NBRC thank you for hosting such a fun event and inviting all the clubs to attend. We also wish SAFE (Sydney’s Animals For Everyone) the best in finding suitable land to create a shelter for animals across the Beaches and North Shore.
